Homework
This year, my goal is to keep nightly homework manageable. Aside from nightly reading (which I really hope is something students would choose to do anyway), if students work hard during class they should come home with little homework. That being said deadlines can sneak up, and in our efforts to mold responsible, independent students, there may be days where the work may take a little longer. Parents, please contact me if work is consistently exceeding an hour (including the 30 minutes of reading), and we can look at ways to make adjustments. While I have seen many students make good gains through challenging homework assignments, I also know that evenings are precious. My hope is that with less homework students can be more involved with the evening routine (dishes? making lunch?), be more active, and get to bed at a reasonable hour to ensure they make the most of their school day.
